1953 hard-cover edition of The Spirit of St. Louis by Charles Lindbergh, signed by Lindbergh on the title page. Lindergh has inscribed the book in black ink, “To Luciell Chin/With best wishes/Charles A. Lindbergh.” Both the inscription and signature have been boldly scripted and grade “9/10.” In 1927 Charles Lindbergh became the first person to make a nonstop solo transatlantic flight when he piloted his famed Spirit of St. Louis from New York to Paris. That feat not only made him an instant international celebrity but also earned him the Congressional Medal of Honor. In the 1930s his name again commanded headlines, this time tragically, when his infant son was kidnapped and then murdered. During World War II he received negative press for his stance on neutrality, but later offered his services to the military and flew in over fifty combat missions (as a civilian) in 1944 in the Pacific. Following the war he became a chief consultant for Pan American World Airways. The book (without dust jacket), published by Charles Scribner’s Sons (New York), displays light-to-moderate wear and is in Excellent condition overall.
