Ohtani, however remained in Japan following High School and was the first pick of the Fighters in the 2012 draft. On March 29th, 2013, Ohtani made his debut at age 18 in the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters’ season-opening game.He played in NPB for the Fighters from 2013 through 2017 as a pitcher and an outfielder.
